GRIDLOCK AT FOOTHILLS ART CENTER
2016
When I created GRIDLOCK in 2012, I never imagined it would be even more relevant nearly a decade later.
Chess, as a game of conflict and combat, is an appropriate metaphor for the dysfunctional state of US geopolitics and domestic affairs. Standard chess pieces, though, are not relevant to our times. GRIDLOCK is a reconception of Chess that transforms the game into a satirical socio-political commentary on perpetual gridlock in our government and culture.
